Chixi Tiger Eye Stone Weir (Humu Weir (滬目滬))
The Chixi Tiger Eye Stone Weir (Humu Weir (滬目滬)) constructed with stacked basalt stones, is a remarkable structure. The sea water within the weir sparkles like the eye of the ocean, and its graceful, arched shape rests quietly beneath the water's surface. It only becomes visible during low tide, as it is submerged at high tide. The Chixi Tiger Eye Stone Weir is located at the edge of the coastal intertidal zone. Between two stone embankments lies a heart-shaped weir house. During high tide, fish swim into the weir house, but as the tide recedes, they become trapped inside. Fishermen can then harvest the fish during low tide, demonstrating the traditional wisdom of early Penghu residents.
Note: This location is on private property. To avoid infringing on the owner's rights, please seek permission from the weir's owner before visiting and be mindful of the tide schedule to ensure your safety.
