The temple traces its origins to the early settlers who brought sacred artifacts from their hometown to Penghu. Due to limited resources, they initially built a thatched hut for worship. Later, a proper temple was constructed at the foot of Beiqi Hill(北崎山). During the Yongzheng era of the Qing Dynasty, the temple was relocated southward and rebuilt as Wenwangdian Temple, symbolizing an auspicious and prosperous future.In August, 1965, the temple underwent reconstruction at its present location and was renamed Lingde Wenwangdian Temple to signify its continued divine grace.
