Dachangyu

Attractions
Located in the center of Penghu, Dachangyu is surrounded by Penghu's main island, Baisha Island and Yuwengdao, and thus received the title of "Pearl of the Inland Sea." Dachangyu is a second-class offshore island that can be traveled entirely on foot or by bike. The island's topography slopes from a higher elevation in the north to a lower elevation in the south. The northeastern coastline features steep sea cliffs with striking basalt columns, while the southwest coast gently descends into the sea. The entire island is encircled by tidal zones and wave-cut platforms, shaped by the forces of nature over time. From different vantage points on Dachangyu, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of some of Penghu's most iconic landmarks, including the Mazu Bronze Statue in Magong, Jhongtun Windmill in Baisha, and the Xiyu Penghu Great Bridge. A must-visit spot is the white shell sand beach located on the western side of Dacang Fish Harbor. This rare, ivory-colored beach is unique to the Penghu archipelago and offers the perfect setting for wading and playing in the waves.
The island is surrounded by vast wave-cut platforms, with dramatic changes in exposed land area between high and low tide. This environment is teeming with marine life, providing an excellent opportunity for visitors to experience the thrill of fishing and crab-catching. Life on Dachangyu is simple, with all daily necessities transported from Magong. Due to population decline, Dacang Elementary School was officially closed in August 2005. Today, the island's education and daily life remain closely tied to Magong's main island.
