Completed in October 1991, Qimei Reservoir is the only reservoir on Qimei Island and serves as its primary water source. In addition to water conservation, it also provides a habitat for water birds, making it a great birdwatching spot. This reservoir features a concrete rock dam with a free overflow spillway. When the water level exceeds 24 meters, the reservoir naturally overflows. This reservoir serves as containment and protection of water sources, as well as a perching ground for water birds.
For those staying overnight on Qimei Island, this is a perfect spot to enjoy a sunset in the evening, while early risers can take in the serene lake view and observe the birds at dawn, making it an ideal location for a slow-paced, relaxing experience.
