Jiangjunaoyu (Jiangjun Islet)

Attractions
Jiangjunaoyu is primarily composed of silica-rich basalt, with an exceptionally flat surface, characteristic of a typical basaltic table mountain. It is located just one nautical mile away from Wang'an Islet, with a boat ride of about five minutes. In earlier years, the island prospered from the collection of coral and Penghu Wenshi (mottle stone), with its fishing port and streets lined with small buildings, earning it the nickname "Little Hong Kong." This island is also one of the few in Penghu that began building multi-story buildings early on, so there are many two- to four-story houses, as well as numerous narrow alleys and traditional "Zai" shops(仔店).Today, most residents rely on fishing for their livelihood, and the old, low fishing village atmosphere along the harbor, along with the pristine coral reefs and marine life in the waters around Penghu, have been well-preserved due to the residents' efforts to protect them.
The island is home to four major temples: Jiangjun Temple, Yong'an Temple, Penghu Tianhou Temple and the Jiangjun Chapel(將軍禮拜堂). Among them, Penghu Tianhou Temple was built through donations from the islanders and once set records in Penghu for spending the most money, hosting the largest number of banquet feasts, and completing construction in the shortest time. Here, visitors can admire exquisite stone carving craftsmanship. Around Jiangjun Islet, you can enjoy a distant view of Tied Island (Chuanfan Islet), a 25-meter-high basalt formation. The island also has a pavilion where you can relax and unwind. Tied Island is also a popular gathering spot for sea anglers.
