Huxi Quoye Lime Kiln

Attractions
Huxi Quoye Lime Kiln, located on the northern coast of Huxi Township, is an important ecological area and a nationally designated wetland. It extends from north to south and is divided into four zones: Qingluo Spit Coastal Area, Mangrove Restoration Area, Qingluo Fish Pond Habitat, and Hongluo Bay Intertidal Zone. Spanning a vast area, the Quoye Lime Kiln features diverse coastal wetland landscapes, including rocky shores, pebble beaches, sandy and muddy coastlines, as well as mangroves, tidal pools, sandbars and fish ponds. It is an important national wetland.
Freshwater from Hutou Mountain flows through the southern part of Qingluo Village, passing Luojing Mountain before reaching the sea. Over time, sediment has accumulated along the coast, forming the expansive wetland seen today. In the 1990s, the Penghu County Government began restoring the black mangrove ecosystem in the area, planting three species of mangroves. The project was highly successful, and today, Huxi Quoye Lime Kiln is home to the largest mangrove forest in Penghu. In addition to being Penghu's largest mangrove restoration area, Huxi Quoye Lime Kiln is also an important bird habitat. Dozens of resident and migratory bird species can be found here each year, making it a site rich in both natural and cultural ecological resources.
