Dongwei Stone Sculpture Park
Attractions
Dongwei Stone Sculpture Park is located north of Dongwei Reservoir, on the southeastern side of the intertidal zone, near the starting point of the North Circuit along County Highway 203, at the entrance to Dongwei Community. From the park, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view to the north, overlooking Xiwei and the Penghu Bay area, while the left side opens up to a vast intertidal zone.
The park is home to four large stone sculptures and several pavilions, offering a harmonious blend of art and natural beauty. The sculptures are primarily carved from black basalt and the four most representative sculptures include: Dolphin Playing with a Ball, symbolizing the ocean and island life; Flock of Birds Taking Flight, representing Penghu's soaring aspirations; Longevity Sea Turtle, a tribute to endurance and vitality; and Indian Blanket Flower, Penghu County's official flower. Each of these sculptures showcases the unique characteristics.
The resilient nature of the black basalt reflects the unyielding spirit of the Penghu people, while the powerful sculptural forms highlight both the strength and vibrant energy of the island's inhabitants.
As part of the Penghu County Government's Green Grassland Initiative(青青草原計劃), this area was designated as Dongwei Stone Sculpture Park. Brought to life by skilled sculptors, the park's dynamic and expressive stone sculptures stand proudly amidst vast grasslands. Blending art with nature, it offers a perfect harmony of tranquility and movement—visitors can witness the ebb and flow of the tides, take in breathtaking sunsets, and observe the area's rich birdlife.
