This area was once the earliest landfill in Huxi Township. It ceased operations in 2003 after reaching its capacity. Later, the Huxi Township Office undertook environmental restoration, and by the end of 2010, it transformed into Dongshi Environmental Park.
  
The park features various scenic facilities, including an entrance wall, a labyrinth of coral stone walls, stone slab walkways, flower trellises, and stone tables and chairs. The coral stone labyrinth stands at a height of about 100 cm and is a small maze. Surrounded by a vast meadow, a traditional Penghu ox cart is placed in one corner. Dongshi Environmental Park is also located near the coastline and Penghu Airport, conveniently close to air traffic routes. During flower season, the landscape is adorned with fields of Indian blanket flowers, attracting large numbers of tourists for photography, sightseeing, enjoying the breeze and watching planes.
