Zhuwan Crab Museum

Attractions
Located next to Dayi Temple in Zhuwan, Xiyu Township, the Zhuwan Crab Museum spans over 100 pings (330.58 square meters) and houses hundreds of shrimp and crab species, with thousands of specimens and live exhibits—the largest collection of its kind in Taiwan. The museum's entire crab collection is the result of years of dedication by its curator, Chen Hungtu. The crab specimens on display were carefully preserved using unique techniques developed by the curator himself after years of research. The museum's dazzling array of shrimp and crab species is truly breathtaking, leaving visitors in awe of the diversity and beauty on display.
A Zhuwan native, Chen Hungtu has studied crabs for over a decade. While most of the crabs in the museum originate from the waters around Penghu, some have been collected from around the world. Visitors can see the world's largest, heaviest, fastest and most venomous crabs, along with rare and fascinating species—such as tree-climbing crabs, crabs with Guan Yu-like red faces, and even ones with horn-like protrusions. The collection also includes rare deep-sea shrimp with no eyes, the largest lobsters, and countless other strange and fascinating species of shrimp and crabs. The sheer variety is staggering, offering visitors an unimaginable opportunity to witness such extraordinary creatures up close at the Zhuwan Crab Museum.
For the best experience, booking a guided tour in advance is recommended. Experienced guides will lead you through this fascinating world.
