The Penghu Aquarium is a two-story building with gray-white walls and green-tiled roofs. Located in Qitou Village, Baisha Township, it was expanded from the original fisheries research institute. The aquarium features various exhibition areas, including coastal ecology, reef pools, and an open-ocean tank. The highlight of the visit is a 14-meter-long arched underwater tunnel, allowing visitors to walk through and marvel at vibrant marine life from an immersive perspective. Directly opposite the aquarium entrance is a wave-shaped seawall extending into the ocean. Originally built by a Japanese pearl farming company, this uniquely curved seawall has become a popular photo spot. However, if you want to take photos in the vibrant blue waters, make sure to check the tide schedule beforehand and time your visit for high tide. Otherwise, you'll be left with nothing but a wet mudflat beneath your feet! On the eastern side of the aquarium, there is the Qitou Coastal Park, designed to make use of tidal variations. The park features an intertidal zone walking area, a tidal circular wading pool and children's play facilities. It offers a fun and educational experience for both adults and children, allowing them to observe intertidal creatures and learn about tidal processes in a playful environment.
