Qimei Twin Hearts Stone Weir

Attractions
Stone weirs are an iconic cultural feature of Penghu, showcasing the ingenuity of early settlers. Using basalt rocks, they constructed these tidal fishing traps, which rely on the ebb and flow of the tides to ensnare fish within their stone enclosures. This traditional method of fishing reflects the deep bond between Penghu's people and the sea. The Twin Hearts Stone Weir, named for its two heart-shaped stone enclosures, is particularly famous for its unique form.

Located in Dingxi, Donghu Village, Qimei Township, it is also referred to as Dingxi Weir. The Twin Hearts Stone Weir consists of two stone weirs arranged in a heart shape. Viewed from above, the two weirs connect at their heads and tails, forming a romantic scene of two hearts joined together. It is one of the most well-preserved stone weirs in the Penghu region.

To fully appreciate the Twin Hearts Stone Weir, it is recommended to check the daily tide schedules to ensure a clear view of its complete heart-shaped structure.
