Golden Twin Islands Arts Festival

Activities

Drawing inspiration from Japan’s Niigata Prefecture and its triennial Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, which revitalizes satoyama culture and cultivates public aesthetic reflection, this initiative aims to activate coastal communities through art. By incorporating plein-air painting and commissioning artists to create landscape art installations at tourist destinations, marine village and coastal (satoumi) culture will be promoted through the multiplier effect of art, showcasing the unique characteristics of fishing and ocean heritage to a broader audience.

In parallel, community-led travel itineraries will be encouraged to further promote these cultural assets, with the aspiration of developing marine cultural and creative products related to Hujing Islet and Tongpan Islet, and expanding the future art festival to include more diverse forms of artistic and cultural performances. Ultimately, the initiative seeks to stimulate local community vitality and realize a vision of coexistence and shared prosperity with the sea.
