Waiting-for-Husband Rock

Attractions
Waiting-for-Husband Rock is a massive reef rock extending into the sea, located near the basalt formations southeast of the Qimei Lighthouse. Shaped by sea erosion, it resembles a pregnant woman lying on the sea surface, hence the popular name Waiting-for-Husband Rock, which implies a woman waiting for her husband. A touching legend surrounds Wangfu Stone. It is said that a devoted couple lived on the island, but the husband tragically died in a fishing accident and never returned. In her grief, the pregnant wife threw herself into the sea. Over time, a miraculous rock shaped like a pregnant woman appeared at the site and it came to be known as Waiting-for-Husband Rock. Visitors can sit in the pavilion along the shore and enjoy a panoramic view of Waiting-for-Husband Rock. Alternatively, they can walk along a stone bridge to reach the stone island itself, where they can take in the distant sight of Qimei Lighthouse at the southernmost tip of Penghu, along with the majestic columnar basalt coastline. The intertidal zone next to Waiting-for-Husband Rock contains many small pools. During low tide, visitors can walk into these pools and observe a variety of marine life, such as tropical fish, sea cucumbers, and crabs, creating a small outdoor aquarium experience.
