Qimei Lighthouse

Attractions
Qimei Lighthouse, also known as "Nanhu Lighthouse," is situated on the southern cliff of Qimeiyu and was built in 1937. It is the last lighthouse constructed in the Penghu archipelago and marks the southernmost point of the islands, serving as a vital navigational guide for ships in the southern Penghu waters. The tower is white, standing at 8.3 meters tall, and is made of reinforced concrete. It is the final lighthouse built by the Japanese in Taiwan. Due to its open design, the lighthouse is often covered in salt and grime during the windy months from September to December, as the winds carry salt and mud onto the glass or into the crystal lenses inside. The lighthouse keepers are tasked with regularly cleaning and maintaining it, making it a demanding job.

Note: The lighthouse is currently closed to the public.
