Beicheng Market

Attractions
Beicheng Market is the largest market in Magong City and an essential destination for daily shopping.
In earlier times, this area was known as Tucheng. By 1977, as Wenkang Market(文康市場) became overcrowded, this site was planned as a modernized market. With the market shifting northward, the population gradually followed suit. Planning for the market began in 1983, and construction followed, resulting in a two-story building covering approximately 1,038 ping (about 3,432 square meters) with 179 vendor stalls. The first floor is dedicated to selling a variety of vegetables, fruits and seafood, while the second floor serves as a specialized section for meat vendors. Completed in 1984, it is now the largest market in Penghu, playing an essential role in the daily shopping needs of local residents. The bustling atmosphere of Beicheng Market is evident everywhere—crowds move continuously, and the lively calls of vendors fill the air. As the heart of Penghu, Beicheng Market embodies the self-sufficiency and community spirit of the locals. It is the largest and most important marketplace in Magong City, covering a vast area with countless vendors offering an abundance of fresh ingredients. With constant foot traffic and long lines at many stalls, nearly every dish, from hearty meals to light snacks, is a local favorite. Simple ingredients are transformed into delicious, fresh flavors, made even more inviting by the warm smiles and friendly hospitality of the Penghu people. For anyone visiting Penghu, Beicheng Market is an absolute must-see!
