Caiyuan Wetland
Attractions
Located at the end of a bay on the northeast coast of the Magong Inner Port, Caiyuan Wetland is adjacent to the north Twin-lakes Park and Xingren Reservoir nearby by the No. 205 Road, to the east Singren Jinshi Residence near the No. 201 Road, to the west Caiyuan Life Memorial Park, and the south intertidal zone at Caiyuan fish farms. During the Japanese occupation, fish farms were established along the eastern coastline of Caiyuan Village. After 1945, the fish farms expanded gradually and by 1971, after oyster farming ceased, this area became the ideal stopover for migratory birds, especially during winter and migration seasons.
Nearby, Caiyuan Fish Harbor offers tours where visitors can watch cage-net oyster farming, fish for cuttlefish, and feed barramundi. The coastline is lined with windbreak forests and embankments, with informational signs set up, making it a pleasant spot for bird-watching and seaside strolls. The wetland area encompasses Xingren Reservoir and its afforestation zone, Twin-lakes Park and mangrove wetlands, Caiyuan fish farms, and the Caiyuan intertidal zone. It is the most suitable location in Magong City for eco-tourism and outdoor educational activities.
This wetland features diverse natural and man-made wetland types, with vast sea areas. Its proximity to Magong City and convenient transportation make it a prime candidate for national and wetland park status.
